Breaking News Current Swine Flu Latest Update

The Independent School District in Fort Worth Texas was the most recent school to close its doors to avoid the risk of exposing its student population to the swine flu.

With one confirmed case and three potential swine flu cases, a number of additional schools in the area have already closed their doors, including: South Hills Elementary, McLean 6th Grade, W.P. Mclean Middle School, and Westcliff Elementary. Richardson District reportedly was the first to respond by closing down school in response to a confirmed case at Canyon Creek Elementary. These schools will remain closed until May 11th, 2009 when it anticipates receiving the results for the total number of confirmed cases.

According to health officials from the US Centers for Disease Control, the latest breaking news indicates that the swine flu has reached 11 states and there are 94 confirmed cases; 51 of which have been confirmed in New York City alone; 16 cases in Texas; 14 cases in California, and 2 cases in Massachusetts, Michigan and Kansas; and one case confirmed in each consecutive state respectively, Arizona, Nevada, Indiana, and Ohio. Reportedly, there is only one confirmed death from swine flu recorded in Texas of a 22-month old baby, who was originally from Mexico and was visiting family in the U.S.

The Centers for Disease Control have placed the swine flu at level 5; one step below of becoming a world pandemic. However, authorities are cautioning people not to panic; but instead stay informed and updated on the swine flu, its symptoms, the swine flu facts, and the swine flu treatment.
